MYFOSKA LEADS STRATEGIC PUSH FOR UNITY, SECURITY, AND POLITICAL COORDINATION IN SOUTHERN KADUNA
The Muslim Youth Foundation of Southern Kaduna has reaffirmed its position as a unifying and forward looking platform with the successful hosting of a 2 day high level strategic retreat for the Southern Kaduna Muslim Ummah in Abuja.
Held from April 11 to 12, 2026 at LAPS New World Hotels, Jabi, the retreat convened a broad spectrum of stakeholders including Islamic scholars, community leaders, youth and women representatives, professionals, and political actors. The gathering marked a significant step toward consolidating the collective voice and strategic direction of the Muslim community in Southern Kaduna.
Chaired by Professor Abdullahi Musa Ashafa and supported by respected resource persons, the retreat focused on addressing evolving political realities, security concerns, and the urgent need for stronger internal cohesion.
A central outcome of the retreat was a renewed commitment to strengthening unity within the Ummah. Participants emphasized that sustainable progress can only be achieved through improved consultation, coordination, and inclusive decision making across communities.
The retreat identified the need to transition from fragmented and reactive political participation to a more structured, long term, and issue based engagement. Stakeholders stressed the importance of leveraging the community’s electoral strength through coordinated action at both state and federal levels.
In response to ongoing security challenges, participants advocated for enhanced community vigilance, stronger collaboration with authorities, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence. The retreat underscored that security remains a shared responsibility requiring both grassroots and institutional commitment.
Recognizing youth as a critical driver of change, the retreat prioritized empowerment initiatives including skills development, mentorship, and increased inclusion in leadership and governance processes. Addressing unemployment and creating pathways for meaningful engagement were highlighted as urgent priorities.
The need for a more cohesive and structured engagement framework among Muslim stakeholders was strongly emphasized. Participants called for the establishment of an advisory and coordination mechanism to ensure sustained dialogue and strategic alignment on key issues.
The retreat concluded with actionable resolutions aimed at deepening unity, enhancing political coordination, improving security collaboration, and advancing youth development.
It also issued a call to key stakeholders. Government was urged to sustain inclusive governance and strengthen security efforts. Political actors were encouraged to prioritize peace, justice, and collective interest. Community leaders were tasked with fostering unity and guiding constructive engagement, while youth and women were called upon to take active roles in leadership and civic responsibility.
In its closing note, MYFOSKA commended the Kaduna State Government for ongoing efforts in security and development while reaffirming the Ummah’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and constructive participation in governance.
The retreat sets a clear agenda for the future, positioning MYFOSKA as a strategic convener and catalyst for unity, stability, and inclusive progress in Southern Kaduna and beyond.
