PHIDMPAN Distances Itself from Daily Trust Report on Proposed Public Health Institute

The Public Health & Infectious Disease Management Practitioners Association of Nigeria (PHIDMPAN) has dissociated itself from a publication in Daily Trust titled "No Profession Should Dominate Proposed Public Health Institute," stating that it neither authorized nor endorsed the views expressed in the report.

In a statement signed by Dr. Yahaya Usman Ali, National Publicity Secretary of the Public Health & Infectious Disease Management Practitioners Association of Nigeria (PHIDMPAN), the association said the publication does not represent its official position and should not be regarded as speaking on its behalf.

PHIDMPAN reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, collaboration, mutual respect, and constructive engagement among health professionals and stakeholders across the country. It emphasized that matters concerning the proposed National Institute for Public Health and Infectious Diseases should be addressed through dialogue, evidence-based policymaking, and broad stakeholder consultation in the interest of strengthening Nigeria's health security.

The association also reiterated its support for initiatives aimed at improving public health systems, infectious disease prevention and control, research, workforce development, and effective institutional governance for the benefit of Nigerians.

PHIDMPAN urged its members, partners, government institutions, media organizations, and the general public to disregard any publication or statement attributed to the association unless it is released through its official communication channels.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the association's commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to advance public health and protect the health of Nigerians.
