Federal Government Urged to complete Reconstruction of Kaduna- Jos and Samarun Kataf- Kwanar Dangora Roads

The Federal Government has been urged to expedite the completion of the reconstruction of two critical highways, the Kaduna–Jos road and the Samarun Kataf–Kwanar Dangora road to ease movement and reduce the suffering of motorists and commuters.

Jakadan Kurama, Ambassador Haruna Dangana made the call during an interview with journalists in Kaduna. He described the two road networks as major economic lifelines linking Kaduna, Jos, and Kano through Saminaka, but regrettably noted that they have deteriorated into death traps for motorists.

According to Haruna Dangana the two major roads connecting Kaduna to Jos and Kano through Saminaka have become extremely dangerous,

Ambassador Dangana lamented that what used to be smooth highways are now riddled with potholes, erosion and failed sections. They have turned into death traps for motorists plying the routes daily.

The Jakadan Kurama expressed concern that many commercial drivers, especially truck operators transporting goods from the southern part of Nigeria to Kano and from Jos to Kaduna have abandoned the roads due to safety concerns. He said the poor state of the roads has led to frequent accidents, delays, increased cost of transportation, and loss of lives and property.

Ambassador Dangana stressed the urgent need for the Kaduna, Kano, and Plateau State governments to jointly remind the Federal Government of the critical importance of fixing the roads. He noted that the highways are not just state roads but national economic corridors that support trade, agriculture and inter-state movement across northern Nigeria.

He added that the Kaduna–Jos and Samarun Kataf–Kwanar Dangora roads serve millions of Nigerians there is an urgent need for the Federal Government to prioritize their completion and bring them to motorable condition. The state governments of Kaduna, Kano, and Plateau must also add their voices and collaborate to ensure this project is actualized without further delay.”

He further assured that communities surrounding the two major roads are ready to give their full support and cooperation to contractors and government agencies to ensure the timely and successful completion of the reconstruction work.
