NAWOJ Kaduna Congratulates State Government, Nigerians on Democracy Day 2026


The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, has congratulated the Kaduna State Government, the people of the state, and Nigerians nationwide on the celebration of Democracy Day 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, the association described Democracy Day as a significant occasion that honours the sacrifices of Nigerians who fought for the return of democratic governance, press freedom, and accountable leadership.

The statement was signed by the Chairperson of NAWOJ Kaduna State Chapter, Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, noted that the annual celebration provides an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the nation’s democratic journey, assess progress made over the years, and renew efforts toward strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to responsible, factual, and unbiased journalism, stressing that a free and independent press remains essential to the growth and sustainability of democracy.

According to the statement, journalists have a vital role in promoting transparency, amplifying citizens’ voices, and fostering national unity through ethical reporting.

NAWOJ also commended the Kaduna State Government for its efforts in promoting good governance and urged stakeholders to encourage greater citizen participation, safeguard press freedom, and create a conducive environment for journalists to carry out their duties without intimidation.

The association further called on Nigerians to remain committed to democratic values, participate actively in civic activities, and work collectively towards peace, security, and inclusive development across Kaduna State and the country.
