The Statistician-General of Kaduna State, Dr. Bukar Baba Alhaji, stated this during an endurance walk organized by the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics to commemorate the World Statistics Day in Kaduna.
Dr. Bukar explained that the endurance walk was part of a series of activities aimed at creating awareness on the importance of accurate and harmonized data in effective policy formulation and implementation.
In his remarks, the Director of Research and ICT at the Bureau, Mr. Mathew Alkali, emphasized that the importance of data in governance cannot be overemphasized. He noted that reliable data plays a crucial role in helping government make informed decisions that impact citizens positively.
Also speaking, the Deputy Director of Census and Survey, Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, said the essence of marking the day was to sensitize the public on the significance of data in policy-making. She urged organizations across the state to cooperate with the Bureau by providing accurate information whenever required.
The Bureau expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for its continuous support and pledged to collaborate with all relevant agencies to ensure data harmonization for effective planning and development.
