Rising star David Stockbrink has impressed Nigeria’s Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu during preparations for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, set to take place in Chile from September 27 to October 20, 2025.

Stockbrink, who was born to a German father and a Nigerian mother from Delta State, showcased his talent in today’s opening training session at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch in Abuja. The Dutch-based Fortuna Sittard striker, aged 18, actively engaged with his teammates throughout the lengthy training session, emphasizing his commitment to building strong chemistry within the squad.

Stockbrink missed the 2025 African Youth Championship due to injury but has now declared himself fully fit and ready for the global stage. Speaking after training, the promising attacker expressed his determination to make a mark at the biannual tournament.

As preparations intensify, all eyes will be on David Stockbrink to see if his form and fitness secure him a spot in the final Flying Eagles squad heading to Chile. His inclusion could provide a major boost to Nigeria’s attacking options at the U-20 World Cup.
